Cancun is my favorite destination when I am in the mood for beach, sun and fun.
This beach is located in the southeast Caribbean Coast of Mexico, in the state of Quintana Roo.
If you are in Mexico City, you can take a three-hour flight to Cancun, and it is a five-hour flight from California.
To Visit:
There are many websites with tours, but the one that my friend and I used in 2017 was MyCancunTours.
We took a tour to Isla Mujeres on a boat for 1200 pesos ($50). It included drinks on the boat, a lunch buffet at the island and snorkel equipment for the Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA).
We rented a car and drove to Tulum — a town two hours from Cancun. Here, there are many nice outdoor places to eat or relax.

Cenotes are sacred Mayan sinkholes.
We visited Grand Cenote in our road trip to Tulum, and it is an experience I really recommend.
To Do:
My favorite food spot was Fred’s House. My friend and I got a table at the terrace at sunset time and enjoyed their delicious seafood.

Tips:
Stay. If you are travelling with a large group I recommend renting an Airbnb. If you are going with a couple of friends or family members, my advice would be to stay at a hotel and get a room with a view of the sea. Many hotels and resorts offer all inclusive deals.
We stayed at Hotel Emporio for a good price, and the location was very convenient.
Transportation. Renting a car is an option if your plan is to road trip to other places. If you plan to stay in Cancun, you can take Uber and the busses that go along Avenida Kukulkan. When I went — in 2017,— they charged 12 pesos ($.5) per ride.
Language. You do not have to worry about not speaking Spanish. Cancun is one of Mexico’s main tourist attractions, and it will be very easy to find someone who speaks English.
$$$. Most places accept pesos and dollars, but I recommend to always bring some cash with you.
Hope you enjoy!
